Before Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, takes office on May 29, the Nigerian government has been ordered to free Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader.

Ejimakor claimed that ending self-determination by freeing Kanu and other political prisoners from the Southeast prior to May 29.

For people fighting for self-determination, the last eight years have been a difficult time, according to Ejimakor.

He bemoaned the persecution and kidnapping of Kanu and other pro-Biafra activists.

According to Ejimakor: "Regardless of where you stand on self- determination, it's regrettable that - for the past 8 years - those who demanded it were brutally persecuted and even renditioned. The only way to close this dark era is to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu & all prisoners of conscience before May 29."

Since June 2022, when Kanu was the victim of an extraordinary rendition from Kenya, he has been detained by the Nigerian government.

In Kenya, the IPOB leader was apprehended for his Biafra agitation.

Stakeholders have demanded Kanu's release before to May 29's Democracy Day, as Nigeria prepares to change the leadership baton.
