Presidential Election Tribunal Pre-hearing Of Peter Obi V. Tinubu Postponed
In order to continue the pre-hearing in the petition filed by Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday postponed the hearing to Friday, May 19.
The court, presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, set the date after, among other things, the petition's parties were unable to reach an agreement on the papers.
Recall that the petition filed by Obi and the LP had its pre-hearing session last week, which the Tribunal had requested be postponed until May 17.
The LP National leader, Julius Abure, and the party's factional leader, Lamidi Apapa, were both in court on Wednesday, but when the justices arrived to start the day's proceedings, they likewise declined to accept the party's representation other than Obi.
There was some minor drama between the two LP factions over who should go to court.
Lamidi Apapa, the party's acting national chairman, and Dudu Manugu, its national women's leader, attempted to appear on behalf of the LP; however, the Tribunal declined to accept their appearance.
