LIGUE 1: PSG MAKES A CHOICE FOLLOWING MESSI'S APOLOGIES
Despite expressing regret for his unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain's team for this weekend's Ligue 1 match against Troyes.
Messi's PSG teammates were "shocked" to learn that he had traveled to Saudi Arabia on Monday without permission.
The day following a defeat in a game that weekend, the 35-year-old was expected to report to training.
Due to this outcome, PSG now only leads Marseille by five points in the title race.
Messi is currently serving a two-week suspension and is not permitted to utilize the club's training facilities during that period.
In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, Messi expressed his regret to the team and his teammates.
PSG hasn't changed its stance about his punishment and absence despite his apology.
Messi has been excluded from their league clash against Troyes this weekend and is also expected to miss the home fixture against Ajaccio the following week.
Christophe Galtier's side will conclude their campaign away to Auxerre and Strasbourg, before hosting Clermont on the final day.
Messi is likely to be involved in those three matches, before his contract expires on 30 June.
Messi won't be playing in their league match against Troyes this weekend and is also not expected to play against Ajaccio at home the following week.
In order to wrap up their season, Christophe Galtier's team will go to Auxerre, Strasbourg, and host Clermont on the last day.
Before his contract ends on June 30th, Messi will probably play in those three games.
