LALIGA COPA DEL REY: RODRYGO OF REAL MADRID EQUALS LIONEL MESSI'S RECORD
Youngster Rodrygo of Real Madrid has been the first player since Lionel Messi of former Barcelona to score multiple goals in the Copa del Rey final.
Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 2-1 to win the La Liga championship, and Rodrygo scored twice for the league champions.
The Brazilian gave the Spanish capital city team the lead in the second minute of the game, but Osasuna tied the score on Lucas Toro's goal in the 58th minute.
But in the 70th minute, Rodrygo scored again for Los Blancos, and this time it was the game-winning score.
Messi, who is currently playing for PSG, was the last member of Barcelona to score a hat trick in the championship game.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner and Argentina international scored twice against Athletic Bilbao in the championship game of 2020–21.
Real Madrid has now amassed a total of 101 trophies throughout the course of its historic history, including 20 victories in the Spanish Cup.
