TAMBUWAL WAS ELECTED TO THE SENATE
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Governor of Sokoto State, was proclaimed the victor of the Sokoto South senatorial district election on Sunday morning.
Tambuwal, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, defeated the incumbent senator, Danbaba Dambuwa, by a margin of 4,976 votes.
The returning officer, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo, announced the results at about 11:55 a.m. on Sunday at the INEC office in Bodinga local government, saying Tambuwal won with a total of 100,860 votes.
He also stated that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Abdullahi Ibrahim Danbaba, received 95,884 votes.
According to MON DIARIES Tambuwal chose the presidential form of the PDP after serving his constitutional requirements of two terms as governor of the state before withdrawing on the day of the primary for a fellow aspirant and ultimate candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Tambuwal, on the other hand, will be returning to the National Assembly as a senator representing Sokoto South senatorial district after serving as a three-term member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Kebbe/Tambuwal federal constituency, where he was the Speaker from 2011 to 2015.
