UCL: WE WERE MOVED BY HIS REMARKS - FOFANA TELLS WHAT LAMPARD TOLD CHELSEA PLAYERS
Wesley Fofana, a Chelsea defender, has spoken out regarding Frank Lampard's meeting with the club following the latter's appointment as interim manager.
Chelsea fired Graham Potter earlier this month and replaced him with Lampard as interim manager until the conclusion of the season.
"He was welcomed back in the best way possible because he is Mr. Frank Lampard. He is a club legend," Fofana told Telefoot.
"He told us to get our confidence back and play simple football again. To get back to the basics, really. His words moved us all because it's what we needed to get our confidence back. And to realise that we are fighting for a club. We are fighting for a great club."
Fofana said Lampard advised him and his teammates to get back to basics ahead of Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid on Tuesday, and that his remarks motivated the players.
