POLICE IN IMO STATE HAVE PROMISED TO APPREHEND THE KILLERS OF FIVE OFFICERS AND A SPOUSE

The Imo State Police Command has vowed to apprehend the five police officers and a spouse who were killed on Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the Okpala hamlet of the state's Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.

Tactical and operational teams, according to ASP Henry Okoye, have been dispatched to the area.

Okoye stated that operatives were on the hunt for the culprits, and that security had been increased around the location.

"The command has deployed teams for constant patrol and in search of those behind this dastardly act. We are closing in on them," he said.

The bodies of the officers who were killed in a local restaurant have been evacuated and put in a mortuary.

The assailants used their guns to harm a white Hilux patrol van. Mr and Mrs Chinaka Nwagu, owners of a neighbouring shop, were also slain.

"Three of the policemen were killed inside the restaurant. Two others ran to a nearby shop but the gunmen ran after them to the shop, killing them and the couple," a source told NAN.

On March 27, gunmen killed five Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) members in the same Okpala neighborhood.
