EPL/FA CUP: RIO FERDINAND COMPLIMENTS MANCHESTER UNITED STAR FOLLOWING WIN OVER BRIGHTON
"He's so good..."
Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, praised Aaron Wan- Bissaka for his performance in Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton on Sunday.
He praised the defender for 'putting the shackles' on Brighton inform right winger Kaoru Mitoma.
Manchester United will now meet Manchester City in the final on June 3 after defeating Brighton in a thrilling penalty shoot-out at Wembley Stadium.
Mitoma has emerged as one of the Premier League's brightest lights since breaking into the Brighton XI. In 31 games this season, he has 10 goals and seven assists.
However, when he faced up against Wan-Bissaka on Sunday evening, the Japan international struggled.
Throughout the game, Wan-Bissaka made critical tackles on Mitoma, and Ferdinand praised the English defender afterward, saying "he is as good as anyone" in one-on-one defending.
"I think Wan-Bissaka for me [was the stand-out player]," Ferdinand told FIVE.
"Mitoma has been the find of the season for me, he has given every team they have played against huge problems.
"And to be fair to Wan-Bissaka, he put the shackles on him. And we all know how good defensively one vs one Wan- Bissaka is and today he proved again he can handle top class players in good form. When it is me against you, he is as good as anyone out there," he said
