The Labour Party's vice presidential nominee, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed Datti, remarked that the recent 2023 presidential elections weren't up to par.

In an interview, he said in Hausa that the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, should not have declared the outcome of the presidential election before responding to concerns and resolving any irregularities that were brought to its attention.

He reaffirmed the party's commitment to acting to save Nigeria and uphold the integrity of the votes cast in the election last Saturday.

He emphasized that the election commission had broken both section 65 of the Electoral Act 2022 as modified and subsection 4 of the Electoral Act 64, which he underlined as being illegal.

He claims that, "The Act has stipulated that it was mandatory that at the completion of an election, the result must be transmitted to what was called IREV."

The electoral officer must ensure that the election result has been forwarded to the IREV before recording the results, he continued.

According to him, the act said that INEC may only take into account results from the IREV and not those entered manually.

He urged all Nigerians to maintain their composure and carry on with their daily activities while they awaited the triumph of reality.
