PDP PLEDGES TO RECLAIM THE MANDATE
Bola Tinubu, the nominee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, won the presidential election on February 25. The Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party has vowed to challenge that outcome.
Additionally, the campaign advised party members not to panic as attempts are being undertaken to reclaim the party's
mandate.
Dino Melaye, the campaign committee's director of public affairs and spokeswoman, made a statement on Wednesday night in which he called the election results a "grave injustice."
Melaye said in a succinct statement, "A clarion call on all Atiku's supporters all over the world not to be perturbed. Weeping may tarry till night but joy cometh in the morning. This grave injustice shall not stand. The battle to retrieve our stolen mandate is a battle of no retreat, no surrender. We shall overcome."
The Independent National Electoral Commission's chairman, Yakubu Mahmoud, declared Tinubu the winner of the election early on Wednesday morning after he received 8,794,726 votes, defeating Atiku, who received 6,984,520, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who received 6,101,533
