APC CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR OF CROSS RIVER WINS IN 12 OF THE 15 LGAS LISTED BY INEC

Bassey Otu, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Cross River State, has won 12 of the 15 local government areas results announced yesterday night by the LGA collation officers.


He defeated his closest rival, Peoples Democratic Party candidate Sandy Onor, who won in three local government regions.


While collation was halted until Monday, results from the three remaining local government areas, Obanliku, Boki, and Akamkpa, were expected (today).


A member of the House of Assembly and 163 others were arrested in connection with an attempt to demolish the Kano INEC headquarters. Bassey won the following local government areas: Yala, Calabar Municipal, Calabar South, Obudu, Yakurr, Akpabuyo, Biase, Etung, Odukpani, Bakassi, Obubra, and Abi.


Ikom, Ogoja, and Bekwarra are the three local government areas won by the PDP candidate.


Cross River State has 18 local government areas.


Prof Teddy Adias, the governorship election Returning Officer for Cross River State, presided over proceedings at the Independent National Electoral Commission state offices in Calabar.
