SECURITY GUARD ARRESTED FOR STEALING FROM THE CHURCH VAULT



A former security guard has been arrested for stealing over N600,000 from the church offering vault


Akindele Opeyemi Olufemi, 32, was paraded by the Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a church's offering vault to steal over N600,000.

According to police, the suspect was apprehended at a "Stop and Search Point" of the Command's Safer Highways.

It was discovered that Olufemi was riding a motorcycle. Initially refused all police attempts to search his bag.

When he was overpowered by the police, they discovered he was carrying different denominations of Nigerian currency. He was arrested after he couldn't explain how the money came to be there.

The suspect stole the money from the Christ Apostolic Church, Camp Ground in Ikeji, Ara-Ikeji, Osun State, and was apprehended by the Men of the Ekiti State Police Command on his way to the state, according to the investigation.

The culprit

Confessing to the crime, he stated that he worked as a security guard for the church for two years and resigned earlier this year, so he returned to the Camp Ground under the guise of a "Personal all night Prayer" and stole over N600,000 from the church offering vault.
