GUSAU IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE NFF

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau was elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at its 78th Elective Congress in Benin, the capital of Edo State

Gusau received 21 votes, outnumbering his closest rival, former Ist Vice President Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who received 12 votes, and former League Management Committee (LMC) Chairman Shehu Dikko, who received only six votes.

Ibrahim Gusau has been elected as the Nigeria Football Federation's 40th president (NFF). He succeeds Amaju Pinnick, who just finished his second term in office.

Gusau was elected president at the 78th Annual General Assembly on Friday in Benin, Edo State.

Musa Amadu, Adam Mukhtar, and Suleiman Yahaya Kwande withdrew from the race, leaving only eight of the 11 aspirants on the final ballot. Gusau received 21 votes in the first round of voting, Seyi Akinwumi received 12 votes, and Shehu Dikko received six votes.

Gusau would have been declared the election's outright winner if he had received the required 50% +1 of the total 41 votes cast.

According to NFF election rules, every candidate who received at least one vote could participate in the runoff, but Shehu Dikko, Seyi Akinwunmi, and Abba Yola declined, while Peterside Idah refused. Gusau won the runoff with 39 votes to Idah's one, becoming the new NFF president.
