THE AAC, SOWORE'S PARTY, CONDEMNS THE POLICE ATTACK ON PETER OBI SUPPORTERS IN ABAKALIKI
The Take It Back Movement strongly condemns the violent repression of Labour Party supporters who gathered in Abakalilki to support their candidate. We describe the police action as criminal, lawless, and blatant disregard for the right to peaceful assembly. We are concerned that, while insurgents and other armed criminals have made the entire country unsafe, particularly with the recent deadly attack on Ifeanyi Uba's convoy, the police has chosen, predictably, to focus on criminal repression of peaceful gatherings and offering itself to be used by the ruling party, the APC, to repress oppositions. It is important to remember that as an institution.
We would like to remind the police that as an institution funded by the Nigerian people, it is obligated to protect our right to peaceful assembly and to ensure the maximum protection of Nigerians whether they are participating in political rallies, protests, meetings, or any other activity that falls within the scope of their constitutional rights.
Whilst also we urge well-meaning Nigerians to oppose the APC's fascism and its attempts to make electoral processes violent and untrustworthy, we also demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of all officers involved in the lawlessness that occurred today in Abakalilki.
Meanwhile, we urge all Nigerians to recognize that genuine political change can only be achieved through a revolutionary alternative such as Omoyele Sowore and the African Action Congress (AAC). Instead of negotiating with fascist rulers like David Umahi, as Peter Obi is doing, it is necessary to call these rogue elements' bluff once and for all.
This requires genuine and tested courage, and we urge all Nigerians who want to build a country free of poverty and war to disregard all sentiments and join the Revolutionary train. Because it is such a principled and ever-ready train that can defend Nigerians' votes in the 2023 elections! Dr. Chidi Nwanyanwull, Director of Media and Communications, has signed.
