U.S TO SENTENCE HUSHPUPPI SEPTEMBER 21
Thom Mrozek, the court's director of media relations, made this information public on Friday, August 26, in response to a Channels Television email.
Since his conviction in 2021, Hushpuppi's punishment date had been postponed three times. Valentine's sentence was first scheduled on February 14 before being moved to July 11 and then September 21.
Mrozek stated that the suspect would be sentenced later this year after having long pled guilty to the alleged $1.1 million fraud last year.
On September 21, a federal judge in Los Angeles is slated to sentence Mr. Abbas, the man claimed.
Hushpuppi accepted a plea deal and admitted guilt to the accusations the court had filed against him, including wire fraud and money laundering.
He faces "20 years in jail, three years of supervised release, a fine of $500,000 or double the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offense," according to court documents.
Along with 12 other people, he was detained in Dubai in June 2020 and later deported to the US for prosecution.
