"I DO NOT HAVE A SPECIAL CANDIDATE," SAYS OBASANJO WHEN ADDRESSING ABDULSALAMI AND BABANGIDA

The former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, paid a visit to Abdulsalami Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida on Sunday in Minna, Niger State.

Following the visit, the former president made a "soon" announcement of his campaign platform for the elections in 2023.

According to reports, Obasanjo claimed that the agenda would be made public as soon as possible but did not provide any specifics.

Despite media speculation to the contrary, he stated that he had no preference for a candidate to lead the nation.

"There is no exceptional candidate I have. I just have national goals in mind, Obasanjo declared.

Abdulsalami Abubakar has been ill, and Obasanjo stated that he was visiting him in Minna because the former president "is very special to me."

"I went to visit my brother, who has been a little unwell. I wanted to visit him while he was in London, but he left on the day I got there. I made the decision to visit him at home because of this.

"He (Abdulsalami) is very special and am still strong to visit those who are special to me," he said.

At around 1:30 p.m., the former president arrived at Abdulsalami's Uphill home and, after greeting family members, attended a private meeting with the former Head of State.

Over 30 minutes passed during the meeting.

Obasanjo left Abdulsalami's house and headed to Babangida's, where he also held another private meeting.

At around 2.30 p.m., he departed Babangida's home for the airport in Minna, from whence he flew to Abuja.

Obasanjo recently met with top presidential aspirants from the nation's two biggest political parties.
