ABUBAKAR ATIKU DIES IN EGYPT
Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, the former Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, has gone away.
According to TVC News, he passed away in Egypt while obtaining medical care. A few days ago, the monarch was flown to Egypt when his family became aware of his failing health and the necessity for immediate medical attention. A family source claims that the monarch passed away last Friday.
According to the source, his remains will be sent to his home in the state's Zurmi Local Government Area so that they could be buried there in accordance with Islamic custom.
According to sources, the State government has not yet released an official announcement regarding the deposed Emir's passing.
Recall that the monarch was dismissed by the governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for allegedly taking part in banditry activities. He spent several months in custody in the Government House. Due to pressure from Civil Society Organizations, the State government later filed legal charges against the Emir and two other monarchs (CSOs). The court released them on bond.
