A FUDMA STUDENT WAS DETAINED AFTER HE USED A PESTLE TO KILL HIS 60-YEAR-OLD STEPMOTHER

Najib Umar Shehu, 25, a student at the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), was detained by Katsina State police in connection with the murder of his stepmother Asiya Mohammed, 60.

On August 18, 2022, the suspect allegedly misunderstood the victim, a retired government worker, and beat her with a pestle at their Ambassador Quarters home.

SP Isah Gambo, the command's spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday, August 25, "He proceeded into the kitchen, got a pestle, and repeatedly hit her with it on her head, causing brain injuries that were later confirmed by a doctor.
