WHO WILL HELP CARRY NIGERIA?

This lovely and insightful piece of drama was the highlight for me and many others at the just concluded Chokhmah’s 4th Annual Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving day celebration which was held two days ago- on the 7th of July- at the exquisite and sublime Kingdom Arena Hall of the Salvation Ministries Church, New G.R.A. Portharcourt.
The event was pretty colourful as most of their students who were in attendance- from pre-nursery through year 9- were all decked in different attires ranging from black blazers on white long or short sleeves with black trousers or skirts to match, white T-Shirts on white trousers and caps for the choreographers, black tight sleeves on purple feathered skirts for the ballet dancers and different cultural dresses from all over Nigeria were all in display et al.
The general overseer of Salvation Ministries and founder of Chokhmah International Academy, Bishop David Ibeyomie, was represented by his amiable and delectable wife, Mrs Peace Ibeyomie and a host of other pastors under the Salvation Ministries Commission were all in attendance. Parents of the students, teachers, instructors and non-academic staffs of the school also graced the occasion. The event was held to mark the end of the 2016/2017 academic session and what better way to mark it than leaving the best for the last.
The hall was resplendent and filled with fervour as the activities for the day went underway. The pupils of the lower section and the students of the secondary section were all glistening, fidgeting, tweeting and smiling with enthusiasm, some parents and guardians were walking to their seats and I fell among them, while some others were busy taking selfies when the microphone finally croaked ceasing and pointing everyone's eyes to the dazzling stage from where the opening speech came and where we will be held spellbound for the next three hours or thereabout as the activities lined up for the day were reeled.
I intend not to bug you with the numerous activities that followed but however, the drama cut my attention especially. The message was one that was timely and coming at the time when the Nigerian populace is like sheep without a shepherd. Agitations, eviction notices and ultimatums coming from several parts of the nation stemming from ethnic and tribal sentiments, disaffection and jealousy for one another; each part independently believing that they are solely responsible for the growth and wealth of the country. Xenophobia and resentment being nursed among members of the same nation against themselves which could result in anarchy, break-up and who knows-unending wars and catastrophe.
The plot of the drama I believe was geared towards reminding us that the country, our country is what it is today due to the effort of all the tribes domiciled in the country and that no tribe's effort could be neglected. The Niger-delta providing the crude oil, The North  providing food for the whole country, the West proving a cosmopolitan and business friendly climate for the whole country and the East providing manpower filled with business ideas, structural ideas and intellectuals beaming with the gift of tapping and harmonising the potentials of the other parts of the country which has translated into massive trade and industrialisation not minding the intellectual and trade exploits of the other parts of the country, all to the benefit of our sole identity- Nigeria.
I for one do not believe that any part of this country can survive long outside the entity called Nigeria. We all need each other to survive and together only, can we pull out from the mud we have put ourselves into. The decadence wasn't perpetrated by only one section of the country. Hence, lets all stop casting aspersions and resentment for any other part of the country; after all, a certain portion of The Bible said that and I paraphrase that we should first remove the clot in our own eyes before thinking of removing the stick from some other person's eyes.
My fellow comrades we are all shareholders in this country and whatever it has become, we are all to be held responsible. Peace is priceless and terror of whatever colour is senseless.Lets give peace a chance. let our utterances be filled with words that tell good promises for our country for words are powerful. We should all come together irrespective of the tribe or part of the country we hail from to carry Nigeria to the heights we need it to be for a single straw of broom can easily be broken but a whole bunch of straws, to be broken simultaneously is abortive.
