In-Form Griekspoor no match for Zverev as German secures top spot...
Alexander Zverev will officially rise to world No. 1 after beating Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 7-5 at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, making him the 30th man in history to lead the ATP Rankings.
A victory over Griekspoor ensured Zverev would overtake Jannik Sinner at the top of the rankings on Monday. It was no easy task, though, as he came up against an in-form Griekspoor, who arrived in Vienna fresh from winning the title in Brussels and after knocking out 18th-ranked Brandon Nakashima in the opening round.

Two-time Grand Slam champion Zverev made a flying start in Vienna, breaking Griekspoor at the first attempt. The Dutch No. 2 tightened up his serve thereafter, but it wasn't enough to prevent Zverev from sealing the opening set comfortably with an ace after 40 minutes.

Zverev threatened to repeat his fast start in the second set by creating an early break point, but Griekspoor dug deep to stay in touch. Neither player gave an inch on serve after that, with only four return points won combined between the second and tenth games.
