Ivan Toney has denied an assault charge stemming from an alleged incident at a London nightclub last December and will face trial in 2028.
The alleged confrontation took place in December 2025 at a nightclub and live music venue in central London, where an exchange of words reportedly escalated into an altercation between Toney and the alleged victim, Saber Da Silva.
Toney is accused of headbutting Da Silva and landing several punches during the altercation, with Da Silva said to have sustained injuries to his nose and fingers.
Reports indicate that officers arrived at the venue within half an hour of the incident and swiftly removed him from the premises.
The former Brentford forward was formally charged in July this year after an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Toney appeared at Southwark Crown Court today, entered a formal not guilty plea once more, and a provisional trial date has now been set for June 12, 2028.
The trial is scheduled to begin three days after the start of the European Championship, which will be hosted across the UK and Ireland a tournament Toney could miss as a result at the age of 32.
Ivan Toney has been charged with assault at a nightclub in central London. The 30-year-old, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, was charged on 31 July and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 24 September following an incident on Wardour Street in Soho on 6 December.

In a previous statement, a spokesperson for Toney said: “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”
