Serie A: Como Beat Parma To Make It Four Wins From Five

Como’s flying start in Serie A shows no signs of slowing. A 2-1 win over Parma at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia gave them a fourth victory in five matches across all competitions, with one draw.
Buoyed by a dream Champions League debut win, Como came out attacking. Their first chance arrived from a sharp corner on the left that picked out an unmarked Nico Paz, but his shot from 17 yards was deflected wide.
Yan Couto was next to threaten, forcing Parma keeper Edoardo Corvi into action. The Italian shot-stopper got a strong hand to it and pushed the effort out for a corner.
From that corner, Jacobo Ramon connected with Paz’s delivery from the left and smashed it home from close range. The goal put Cesc Fabregas’ side 1-0 up in the 23rd minute.
It was another early strike for Como. The Lariani came into the weekend top of Serie A for first-half goals with five, and they added to that tally here.
Como kept the ball well but couldn’t break down Parma’s stubborn backline again before halftime.
Parma’s best opening of the first half came right on the whistle. Simone Lontani latched onto a floated pass from Sascha Britschgi inside the six-yard box, but his header sailed just over the bar.

The second half started slowly, but Parma almost equalized just after the hour. Emanuele Valeri whipped a ball in that found sub David Romero four yards out. His first-time shot looked certain to score, until Robert Sanchez dived to his left and pushed it onto the post.
Como went close again when Maxence Caqueret threaded a perfectly weighted pass to Kaiki Bruno. He tried to chip the advancing Corvi, but the shot drifted just wide of the far post.
Carlos Cuesta’s Parma kept pushing for a late equalizer, but Como killed the game in the 83rd minute. Samuele Ricci’s cross from the right was fumbled by Corvi, and Kaiki was on hand to tap in from eight yards.
Como had another opportunity to pad the lead. Couto’s shot was denied by Corvi, and Caqueret blazed the rebound wide of the right post.
Parma did pull one back deep into stoppage time. Romero finished off Pontus Almqvist’s cross, but it was only a consolation as Como saw out a 2-1 win. The result also stretched Como’s unbeaten run against the Crociati to six games, 3 wins and 3 draws.
Parma remain without a league victory this season. They’ll look to change that when they host Genoa this weekend before the international break.
