A man was handed a nine-year prison sentence on Saturday for orchestrating a violent robbery. Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his girlfriend were held hostage in their Paris home during the attack, according to lawyers.
The Italian international, who was playing for Paris Saint-Germain at the time, was targeted at his home in July 2023. Both Donnarumma and his girlfriend were attacked during the incident.
Ilyas Kherbouch was found guilty on Saturday of complicity in armed robbery and unlawful detention. The Paris prosecutor’s office and Kherbouch’s lawyer, Alfred Reboul, confirmed the verdict.
Gianluigi Donnarumma was hit, bound and threatened with a knife during a break-in when he lived in Paris.

The nine-year sentence came in below the 10 years requested by prosecutors. Reboul said Kherbouch had not yet decided if he would appeal.
