Holger Rune To Make Davis Cup Comeback After 11-month achilles injury layoff

Holger Rune back for Denmark vs Bulgaria in Davis Cup

Holger Rune will return for Denmark in the Davis Cup against Bulgaria on 18-19 September, 11 months after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture at the Stockholm Open.

Nearly a year after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Stockholm, Holger Rune is set to make his return for Denmark in the Davis Cup...

Holger Rune will return to action at the Davis Cup following an 11-month spell out with injury.

The Dane has been sidelined since suffering an Achilles tendon injury at the Stockholm Open last year. He will make his comeback when Denmark face Bulgaria on 18 and 19 September.

Rune suffered a complete proximal rupture of his Achilles tendon during his Stockholm Open semi-final against Ugo Humbert in October last year. He had surgery soon after and has been working through a long rehabilitation program.

The tie against Bulgaria will mark a significant return for the 23-year-old.

“I am incredibly excited to be back in action. Being out for 11 months - and the fact that it’s taking place on Danish soil - makes it even more special. Danish fans are fantastic.”

“I’ve missed the matches, the crowd, and the feeling of competing, so I’m really looking forward to stepping onto the court next Friday,” Holger Rune says to dr.dk.
