Former Czech international goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died after a long battle with cancer, http://iSport.cz reports. Baník Ostrava also confirmed the news. Miklosko, 64, played for the club from 1982 to 1990 and had been head of its sports department since 2022. 

 

Born in Prostejov, Miklosko was the first Czech player to make his mark in England. He left Baník for West Ham in 1990, making 318 appearances and winning the club’s Player of the Season award in 1991. He later played 57 games for Queens Park Rangers before retiring in 2001.

Miklosko earned 42 caps for Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. He’s also part of the League Goalkeepers’ Club for keepers with 100+ clean sheets in top-flight football, his 142 shutouts place him sixth on the all-time list.
