Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz delivered the first walk-off hit of his career on Monday, lining a single in the bottom of the 10th to beat the St. Louis Cardinals.
The 24-year-old drove in catcher Tyler Stephenson with a knock to left field, snapping Cincinnati’s three-game losing streak.
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 in the nightcap after an 0-for-4 showing in game one of the doubleheader, a 2-1 loss to the Cardinals.
Cincinnati’s walk-off came right after Dane Myers forced extras, crushing a two-out homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie it.

That was Myers’ second home run of the doubleheader. The shot pushed his season total to five and helped set up the Reds’ comeback win.
Through 106 games this season, De La Cruz is hitting .261/.344/.475 with 20 homers, 57 RBIs and 21 steals. He’s just six home runs shy of matching his career high.

The two-time All-Star is also chasing a new best in batting average - he’d need to finish above .264. His on-base and slugging percentages have already set personal records.
Cincinnati sits last in the NL Central at 60-65. With 37 games to go, the Reds trail the final Wild Card spot by 6.5 games.
