The Baltimore Orioles sent outfielder Taylor Ward to the Seattle Mariners ahead of Monday’s trade deadline. In return, Baltimore received pitching prospects Alex Hoppe, Harrison Kreiling, and Brock Moore.

.Ward, 32, is batting .246 with a .729 OPS, 7 home runs and 30 RBI in 111 games this year. Heading into Sunday’s game vs Philadelphia, he also led the American League with 87 walks. His .383 on-base percentage is the best of his career.

The nine-year veteran spent his first eight seasons with the Los Angeles Angels. He hit .238/.404/.338 with 2 homers and 8 RBI in July during his brief stint with Baltimore after being acquired by the Orioles in the offseason.

Ward’s power has dipped a lot from last season. In 2025 he set career highs with 36 home runs and 106 RBI. With 52 games remaining after Sunday’s afternoon game, he’d have to average about 1.5 homers and 1.5 RBI per game to top those marks.

He’s also closing in on a few milestones. Ward needs 75 more hits for 800 in his career, 80 more homers to reach 200, and 15 more RBI to get to 400. He’s just three steals shy of a new single-season best of seven.
