Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC. The winger is rated as one of the Betway Premiership’s top young talents.

The 21-year-old scored 9 goals for Stellies last season. He was also named both Stellenbosch’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player, which sparked interest from several other clubs.

The Durban native has opted for Amakhosi and will boost coach Fernando Da Cruz’s attacking choices.

He mainly plays on the left wing but is also comfortable on the right. Luke Baartman featured on the left in the 3-1 victory over Kruger United at the weekend, while Pule Mmodi has been used in that role over the past few seasons.

Phili broke into the Stellenbosch first team in the 2023/24 season and made 72 appearances overall, netting 11 goals and registering 2 assists.

Chiefs are strengthening their squad ahead of another CAF Confederation Cup run this season. The extra fixtures mean Amakhosi could play between 50 and 55 games in total.

The 21-year-old also brings continental experience, having featured for Stellies in the competition over the last two seasons.
