Atlanta Bets Big On Bergeron With 4-Year Extension

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a 4-year, $96 million extension with guard Matthew Bergeron on Saturday. The deal includes $60 million guaranteed.




The 26-year-old posted a 70.8 overall grade last year, ranking 22nd among 81 qualifying guards.


Atlanta’s 2023 second-round pick, 38th overall, has been durable. Bergeron has played every game in three seasons with the Falcons aside from the two he missed last year due to an ankle injury.

“Matthew is the type of player you build around,” said Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham. “He's establishing himself as one of the top young guards in the NFL, and his toughness, consistency and leadership have made him a cornerstone of our offensive line and the culture we're building in Atlanta.”


Bergeron was solid in pass pro in 2025, allowing 1 sack, 28 pressures and 7 QB hits on 519 pass-blocking snaps.

The Falcons kick off the 2026 regular season Sept. 13 at home vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
