Rooker’s Season Over: Athletics Star to Have Knee Surgery
Brent Rooker’s 2025 is finished after he was ruled out with a left knee injury. The $80M extension signee was struggling at .200, but leaves a big hole for the surprising A’s lineup.
Athletics’ Brent Rooker out for season after knee surgery...
Athletics slugger Brent Rooker is done for the year after needing left knee surgery to repair cartilage damage, per team beat reporter Martin Gallegos.
The 31-year-old was in the middle of a down season at .200 with 10 homers and 29 RBI. That’s a drop off from three straight strong years with 30+ home runs and 69+ RBI each season, and it comes months after he signed a six-year, $80 million extension in January.
During four seasons in Oakland, Rooker earned two All-Star selections and a Silver Slugger. Before this year, he was averaging 33 homers, 90 RBI, and a .267/.343/.510 line.
Brent Rooker is set to undergo surgery to address cartilage in his left knee. He will miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

He broke in with the Twins from 2020-2021, then struggled through 2022 split between Kansas City and San Diego.
