Rich Paul claims LeBron James would have signed with the Knicks if they hadn't won the title and named 10 teams in play for the 4-time NBA champion.
Rich Paul says LeBron James has 10 realistic free agency destinations...
Agent Rich Paul said Monday that LeBron James, 41, has 10 viable teams to choose from next season after confirming his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers.
The four-time NBA champion and MVP announced earlier this week that he will not return to LA and will enter free agency ahead of his 24th season.
While making the pitch for his client, Paul also named Dallas, Boston, San Antonio and New York, adding that James would have signed with the Knicks if they hadn’t won the championship last month.
“If the Knicks hadn't won, there would be no discussion. He'd be heading to New York,” Paul said.
Philadelphia strengthened its pitch by reportedly acquiring Jaylen Brown from Boston in a deal that can't be officially signed until next week under league rules.
Paul noted that pairing James with a starting five of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Brown would make for a formidable lineup.
“How could you not have the attention when you have Maxey, Edgecombe, Brown and Embiid?” Paul said, adding that James “unlocks everything there” and “everything changed” when Brown went there.
Paul also pointed to the Miami Heat, who added Giannis Antetokounmpo alongside Bam Adebayo, Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins, along with Denver and Minnesota, which he said had the closest arrows to LeBron's name on the board.
When asked about longshot options like San Antonio or Boston, Paul said if a team wasn’t being considered, “they wouldn't be on the board.”

Golden State, shown on the board with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, was placed in a far corner instead of with the top contenders that had twice as many reasons for James to join.
“Think what you want,” Paul said. “This is just my board.”
On the future of James, who turns 42 in January, Paul also dropped another hint.
“Who says this is going to be his last year?” Paul said.
