Hakimi to appeal France’s court of cassation after trial ruling...
Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi will take his case to France’s highest court after a ruling to send him to trial on rape charges was upheld.
The Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender has appealed to the Court of Cassation, a source close to the matter said on Friday.
On June 19th, an appeals court ruled that Hakimi must face criminal trial over allegations of rape from 2023. The PSG full-back has denied the claims throughout the case.
The ruling was handed down while the 27-year-old was leading Morocco at the 2026 World Cup.
Moments after the Versailles Court of Appeal’s decision, Hakimi posted on X: “I have been waiting for this trial since day one.”
Hakimi’s lawyer did not comment on the new appeal to the Court of Cassation, France’s top court for civil and criminal cases.
In February 2023, a 24-year-old woman reported to police in Val-de-Marne, southeast of Paris, that Hakimi had raped her.
According to a police source at the time, the complainant said she met Hakimi on Instagram in January 2023 and travelled to his home in a taxi he had arranged.
She alleged that the player kissed her, touched her without consent, and then raped her.
“Every decision handed down in this case has been in favour of the claimant. She will fight to the very end to obtain justice,” said the plaintiff’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo.
