Les Rouges roar, Canada demolish Qatar 6-0 in dominant World Cup display...

Jonathan David’s hat-trick powered Canada to a historic first-ever FIFA World Cup win. Jesse Marsch’s team blew past a chaotic Qatar side 6-0, with the hosts finishing the match down to nine men.

Canada came out flying in the first half. They pressed Julen Lopetegui’s side non-stop and completely overwhelmed them with energy and pace.

David drove everything good Canada did, as expected. His blistering volley forced keeper Mahmud Abunada into a save that spilled right to Cyle Larin, and the Southampton forward poked in the opener on 15 minutes.

Qatar took a scheduled hydration break with Bon Jovi blasting over the PA, but they were already living on a prayer when play resumed. David struck again soon after, smashing a volley from 18 yards to make it 2-0.

Just after the 30-minute mark, Canada got a penalty when Homad Al Amin took down Tajon Buchanan. The replay showed the foul happened outside the box though, so Qatar’s pain doubled - Al Amin saw red for denying a clear scoring chance.

Right on halftime, David pounced to finish off his second. He scrambled the ball home and turned Canada’s control into a full-blown rout.

Qatar came out of halftime already outclassed, and their composure fell apart. Assim Madibo’s tackle left Ismael Koné writhing in pain and the midfielder had to go off on a stretcher with a suspected broken leg. Madibo got a straight red, leaving Qatar down to nine.

Even with that grim moment clouding things, Canada found a bright spot. Kone’s replacement Nathan Saliba stepped up and curled a perfect 22-yard free kick into the net to make it 4-0.

With Canada so dominant and Qatar down to nine, a fifth goal felt inevitable. It came when Mohammad Al Mannai tried to clear Jacob Shaffelburg’s shot but only succeeded in putting it into his own net.

The worry over Koné’s serious injury still hung over the stadium, but David gave Canada a final lift. The Juventus forward fired in his third in stoppage time to complete the hat-trick.
