Netherlands midfielder Quinten Timber will miss Saturday’s World Cup Group F game against Sweden. The Dutch team confirmed Thursday that he picked up an injury in training.
Team officials said the 25-year-old suffered a mild concussion after a collision during Thursday’s session.
Quinten Timber won’t feature against Sweden after being ruled out through injury. The Dutch midfielder suffered the setback in training.
Team staff assessed the player right after the incident and determined he wouldn’t be available for selection.
“The moment Quinten had the ball, I ran in behind,” teammate Teun Koopmeiners said. “He wanted to play it through and then it happened. It wasn’t a massive collision, but you still have to be careful.”
The timing is rough for Timber. He turned 25 on Wednesday and had come off the bench in the Netherlands’ 2-2 opener with Japan before this concussion set him back.

His twin Jurrien is already sidelined too - the defender missed the whole tournament with a groin issue. He linked up with the Dutch squad late after Arsenal lost to PSG in the Champions League final, only to drop out just before their New York warm-up against Uzbekistan.
