New Barcelona signing Hamza Abdelkarim is playing for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup. The 18-year-old forward has featured in Egypt’s opening matches against Belgium and New Zealand.

Barcelona have signed Egypt forward Hamza Abdelkarim permanently until 2029, the LaLiga club announced Tuesday.

The 18-year-old arrived from Al Ahly on loan during the winter window with a purchase option. He earned the deal after scoring 6 goals in 11 games for Barca’s U19s.

“FC Barcelona has informed ⁠Al Ahly that it is exercising its purchase option for Hamza Abdelkarim. The Egyptian forward ‌will join the club on a permanent basis and will sign a contract for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029,” read the statement.

Abdelkarim is with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup right now, and has already played in their first two group games vs Belgium and New Zealand.
