Switzerland stunned Norway with a dominant display in Zurich, crushing them 6-0 on Saturday to reach their third straight World Championship final at home.

Backed by a roaring Zurich crowd, the hosts ended Norway’s Cinderella run with six different scorers finding the net. The 6-0 rout snapped the Scandinavians’ momentum and booked Switzerland a third consecutive final, after defeats to the Czech Republic in 2024 and the USA in 2025.

Christoph Bertschy, Denis Malgin, Ken Jager, Damien Riat, Nico Hischier, and Theo Rochette all found the net for the Swiss.

Petter Thoresen’s side entered the semifinal full of belief after speed and relentless work rate carried them to a historic first last-four appearance. But that confidence was dented at 17:36 of the opening period when Bertschy beat Norway goalie Henrik Haukeland high on the short side.

Switzerland made it 2-0 early in the second with a quick 2-on-1. Calvin Thürkauf grabbed possession, pushed into Norway’s end, and set up Denis Malgin, who stayed composed to slip the puck past Henrik Haukeland at 4:23.

The hosts pressed their advantage at 12:51 as Ken Jager, who bagged a brace against Finland in the group stage, directed the puck beyond Haukeland for 3-0. Then at 16:36 captain Roman Josi fed Damien Riat to finish it off, putting Switzerland 4-0 up and effectively ending the contest.

Hischier added a fifth at 4:27 of the third, and Rochette made it six at 2:26, rounding out a dominant afternoon for the home side.

Norway can still claim its first-ever IIHF medal in Sunday’s bronze-medal game. Switzerland will meet the winner of Finland vs. Canada in the final.
