PSG retained the Champions League with a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Arsenal in Budapest after Ousmane Dembele’s 65th-minute penalty cancelled out Kai Havertz’s early strike.

After thrashing Inter last season, PSG defended their UCL title by edging Arsenal in a dramatic final. Havertz scored early for Arsenal, but Dembele’s penalty forced penalties...

Paris Saint-Germain defended their Champions League title with another comeback, beating Arsenal in a dramatic final in Budapest.

Arsenal led for most of the match after Kai Havertz fired home from a tight angle in the 6th minute. PSG stayed patient and found their breakthrough in the 65th when Ousmane Dembele converted from the penalty spot to level it.

Neither side could break the deadlock through the end of regulation or extra time, so the 2025/26 Champions League was settled on penalties. PSG’s big-game composure showed as they edged Arsenal 4-3 in the shootout to keep the crown.

After demolishing Inter in the 2024/25 final, PSG began their title defense strongly. The Parisians opened with three straight league phase wins, including a 2-1 victory at rivals Barcelona.

Their league phase finish was shaky and PSG missed out on automatic last-16 qualification. They only edged past Monaco in the playoffs. From there, Luis Enrique’s team shifted gears, overpowering Chelsea and Liverpool before outlasting Bayern Munich in a dramatic semifinal.

It wasn’t their cleanest campaign and far from peak PSG, but they found a way when it mattered. Getting the job done has become their trademark, and they did it again.
