Battle for World Cup-bound Summerville begins

Called up by Netherlands over Jeremie Frimpong for his “exceptional work ethic”, Crysencio Summerville is attracting Roma and Tottenham after West Ham’s relegation. Both clubs tried signing him in January.

AS Roma have made Crysencio Summerville their #1 summer target according to La Gazzetta, with Spurs also interested. West Ham want ~€29m for the Dutch winger signed from Leeds in 2024...

AS Roma and Spurs circle World Cup-bound Crysencio Summerville as ‘top target.’

West Ham’s relegation has put Crysencio Summerville on the market, with AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur both reported to be chasing the 24-year-old winger.

Summerville contributed 10 goal involvements - 7 goals and 3 assists - in 34 games across all competitions for the Hammers, but it wasn’t enough to keep them up as they went down on the Premier League’s final day.

The 24-year-old earned a surprise Netherlands World Cup call-up from Ronald Koeman despite having no senior caps. Koeman opted for Summerville over Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong, saying: “He’s that sort of player who is reliable on the pitch. He’s very capable of playing on the right flank, too, but his work ethic is exceptional.”

Dutch outlet Voetbal International reported Thursday that Summerville could get a move away from West Ham, with both AS Roma and fellow relegated side Tottenham keeping close tabs on the winger ahead of his expected Netherlands debut. La Gazzetta dello Sport added that Roma have placed Summerville top of their summer transfer list, a detail sources also confirmed to Voetbal International.

West Ham have already told Roma what it would take to sign him, and the Italian club are said to be prepared to meet that valuation.

Reports claim both Roma and Spurs were interested in him back in the January window too.

West Ham signed Summerville from Leeds United in 2024 for roughly €29 million, and he’s tied to the club until 2029.
