Union had taken the lead in the 74th minute when Argentine defender Kevin Mac Allister struck, capping off a period where they were firmly in control.
Earlier in the game, Union thought they’d doubled their lead when English-born captain Christian Burgess glanced a header home from a free kick. But it was ruled out for offside after a long VAR check.

Anderlecht’s fans briefly disrupted play with pyrotechnics that filled the stadium with smoke and made it hard for players to see. They later leveled it in the 80th minute, with Mihajlo Cvetkovic finishing off a set-piece to make it 1-1.
