Slavia’s title-clinching derby against Sparta was abandoned in stoppage time after hundreds of home fans stormed the pitch at Eden Stadium.
With Slavia leading 3-2, the derby was abandoned after fan violence. Club chairman Jaroslav Tvrdík says a forfeit is now a possibility...
The Prague derby between Slavia and Sparta was stopped in the seventh minute of added time and later abandoned after Slavia fans ran onto the pitch. Both teams immediately left for the dressing rooms. The game was halted at Eden Stadium with only minutes left, Slavia leading 3-2 and on the verge of winning the title.
Hundreds of home supporters, some carrying smoke bombs, suddenly rushed onto the field. Referee Karel Roucek stopped play and eventually abandoned the match.
“It’s a disgrace,” said Oneplay Sport expert Zdenek Folprecht in the studio. Even Slavia fans who stayed in their seats condemned the incident, chanting insults at the supporters who ran onto the pitch.
Things got worse when fans confronted goalkeeper Jakub Surovcik, who left the field looking hurt. Citing safety concerns, Sparta chose not to resume, boarded their bus and left Eden.

Matyas Vojta and a member of Sparta’s medical staff were also reportedly attacked alongside Surovcik. “To have someone run up to me during the match, threaten me to my face, and attack me is absolutely unacceptable. I will pursue this legally,” Surovcik wrote on Instagram.
“I’m truly sorry to say this, because I thought we would celebrate the title together. But things turned out differently, as two Sparta players were physically attacked. The opponent has already left the stadium, and the match officials, security, and police have decided to end the game,” said Jaroslav Tvrdik.
What happens next for Slavia isn’t clear yet. Tvrdík said a forfeit is one of the possible outcomes.
