Serie A: Udinese Beat Cagliari 2-0 to Deepen Relegation Fears
Goals from Adam Buksa and Idrissa Gueye gave Udinese a 2-0 win at Cagliari, leaving the hosts still not mathematically safe in Serie A.
Despite chances and strong saves from Okoye, Cagliari fell 2-0 to Udinese and must wait on Cremonese’s result to confirm Serie A survival...
Cagliari’s safety isn’t confirmed yet after goals from Adam Buksa and Idrissa Gueye gave Udinese a 2-0 victory in Sardinia on Saturday.
The win at the Unipol Domus moved Udinese to within five points of seventh-placed Atalanta, who play at Milan on Sunday.
Cagliari created the clearest chances before halftime, but Maduka Okoye pulled off two sharp saves with his feet- first denying Marco Palestra on the break, then blocking Gianluca Gaetano’s close-range effort.
The hosts thought they had a penalty when Jesper Karlstrom handled in the box, but VAR overturned it after ruling the Udinese midfielder’s arm was in a “natural position” as he tried to avoid contact.
Udinese came out stronger after the break, and Nicolo Zaniolo nearly broke the deadlock immediately, striking the outside of the post from the edge of the area.

The Bianconeri then took the lead through Buksa’s fourth goal of the campaign. Hassane Kamara surged down the left and picked out the Polish striker, who rounded Elia Caprile and tapped into an empty net.
Alberto Dossena almost equalized for Cagliari from a corner routine, only for Jesper Karlstrom to clear the ball off the line with a well-timed header.
Nicolo Bertola made an equally crucial intervention minutes later, blocking Paul Mendy’s strike from outside the box.
Cagliari kept pushing for an equalizer, but their attacking commitment left gaps that Udinese exploited on the break.
Keinan Davis missed a golden opportunity one-on-one with Caprile, but the former Aston Villa forward, back from injury and off the bench, made amends by assisting Idrissa Gueye. Gueye finished off a clinical counterattack in stoppage time to seal Udinese’s win.
Tempers flared after the final whistle as players from both sides clashed briefly on the pitch. Udinese’s Keinan Davis appeared especially frustrated and had to be held back by teammates.
