The win moves Sassuolo into the Serie A top half, while Milan risk losing fourth with Juventus, Como, and Roma closing in.
Milan failed to register a shot on target in a sloppy display, conceding twice in the first 47 minutes at the Mapei Stadium...
AC Milan’s push for a top-four finish took a hit as Sassuolo claimed a 2-0 home win at the Mapei Stadium, ending a four-game winless run against the Rossoneri across all competitions.
Milan’s slim title hopes were already over mathematically, but a Champions League spot was still on the line. Sassuolo ignored that and struck first, opening the scoring inside five minutes to stun the visitors.
A slick passing sequence ended with Armand Lauriente finding Domenico Berardi unmarked in the box, and the Sassuolo captain curled a low shot into the far corner.
Massimiliano Allegri’s team looked flat from the start, and it got worse in the 24th minute when Fikayo Tomori picked up a second yellow for clumsy fouls. The two bookings summed up a poor first half for Milan, who failed to register a shot on target.

Sassuolo picked up right where they left off after halftime and doubled their lead even faster, finding the net within two minutes of the restart.
Sloppy defending from Milan gave the ball away, letting Luca Lipani feed Lauriente on the left. After a neat one-two with Kristian Thorstvedt, Lauriente fired it in at the near post.
Milan had now conceded multiple goals away from home for the first time in 11 league games, and their problems didn’t stop there. Stefano Turati hadn’t been forced into a save an hour in, so Allegri made several changes, but nothing changed. Sassuolo stayed in control and cruised to a third win in five, sealing a comfortable night for Fabio Grosso’s side.

Sassuolo’s comfortable win lifts them into the top half as they chase a third top-eight finish in seven years. Milan, meanwhile, need to regroup fast or risk slipping out of the top four. Juventus can draw level on points tonight, while Como and Roma are closing in behind the Rossoneri.
