Ousmane Dembele to get treatment for calf issue ahead of UCL final

PSG forward Ousmane Dembele left the field with a calf problem but Luis Enrique believes it’s fatigue. Update on Dembele and other PSG injuries before the UCL final.

PSG confirm Ousmane Dembele needs treatment for a right calf problem before the Champions League final vs Arsenal. Luis Enrique says it’s likely just fatigue...

Paris Saint-Germain said on Monday that forward Ousmane Dembele requires treatment for a right calf problem ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal later this month.

The Ballon d'Or winner came off after 30 minutes in Sunday’s 2-1 Ligue 1 loss to Paris FC. PSG said in a statement it was “as a precaution after experiencing some discomfort in his right calf.”

“Dembele will be having treatment over the next few days,” the club added.

The 29-year-old walked normally as he left the pitch and got on the team bus after the match, showing no signs of a limp.

“I think it is just due to fatigue,” coach Luis Enrique told the press on Sunday.

“It has been a tricky end to the season, but now we have two weeks to prepare for the biggest match in our history.”

The former Barcelona player has dealt with several physical setbacks this season, especially problems with his thigh and calf.

Achraf Hakimi returned to individual training on Saturday following a thigh issue. Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Lucas Chevalier also resumed individual sessions.

None of the three were available for Sunday’s match against Paris FC.

PSG secured a fifth consecutive French title and a record 14th overall with a 2-0 win over closest challengers Lens last Wednesday.

Luis Enrique’s side will face Arsenal in Budapest on May 30. They will try to defend the European crown they won for the first time in the club’s history last season.
