Pep Guardiola Says Premier League Title No Longer in Man City’s Hands
| Guardiola admits Premier League title no longer in Man City’s hands |
Jeremy Doku’s 97th-minute equaliser salvaged a point, but City now trail Arsenal by 5 points with 4 games left.
City still have a game in hand and need Arsenal to stumble, with Brentford, Palace, Bournemouth, and Villa to play...
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said the Premier League title race had slipped out of his side’s control after a 3-3 draw with Everton on Monday.
“It’s now not in our hands, before it was, now no,” Guardiola said.
City have four games left and title fate out of their control
“Four games we have (remaining) in the Premier League. They will be quite similar and we’ll see what happens,” Guardiola said.
City could have drawn level on points with leaders Arsenal if they’d beaten Everton on Monday and Brentford five days later.
Instead they sit five points back, with a game in hand, and now need Arsenal to slip up.
Guardiola was left reflecting on a point salvaged rather than three secured at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
“It's better than losing,” he said. “We'd rather win. We play for that and we just showed what a team we are. We tried everything. The players were aggressive.”
Pep 💬 (On tonight's result) It’s better to have a point than no point. It would be better to win the game than have the point.

Doku and Haaland vow to keep fighting despite title setback
Winger Jeremy Doku scored a dramatic equaliser in the 97th minute for his second of the night, and matched his manager’s frustration while insisting City hadn’t given up with four league games left.
“It’s painful now but there’s still a lot of games to go and anything can happen,” Doku said. “We’ll keep on fighting. We owe it to ourselves and our fans.”
City striker Erling Haaland, who netted in the 83rd minute, was heard saying “We’re still in it” as he shook hands with teammates after the final whistle.
After Saturday’s match against Brentford, City close the season with games against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa.

Arsenal’s run-in looks easier on paper, City still chase treble
On paper, Arsenal’s remaining schedule is lighter, with matches against West Ham United, who are fighting relegation, already-down Burnley, and Palace.
City’s league title chances took a big hit Monday, but they’re still mathematically in the hunt for a domestic treble. They defeated Arsenal to claim the League Cup in March and will play Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 16.
