The 34-year-old Casemiro has been a key figure this season but will depart after four years, leaving United seeking a robust midfield replacement like Ederson.

United have tabled a contract worth €4.5m a year, around £75,000 per week, and transfer expert Mateo Moretto says they’ve “blown Atletico Madrid out of the water...”

Manchester United are said to be ahead in the race to land Atalanta’s Ederson as a replacement for Casemiro.

The Red Devils are making plans for next season without Casemiro, and Atalanta’s Ederson has been identified as a potential successor in midfield.
.
Casemiro revealed in January that he intends to depart Manchester United when the season wraps up, following four years at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old has played a key role for the Red Devils this season, with his form improving notably since Michael Carrick took over in January. He’s netted five goals across his past 12 Premier League outings.

Known for his tough tackling and ability to contribute in attack, Casemiro’s departure will leave a significant gap next season if United don’t bring in a strong replacement.

Fortunately, United are already scouting midfield options, and Atalanta’s Ederson is among the players they’re monitoring.

Atalanta have set a £39m asking price for their key midfielder, but with his deal running until 2027, there’s increasing optimism that United could negotiate a lower fee.

That news will be welcomed by United supporters, who will be pleased to hear the club has moved to the front of the race with a substantial contract offer of €4.5m annually - roughly £75,000 per week.

Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, transfer journalist Mateo Moretto said Man United have “blown Atletico Madrid out of the water” with their proposal.

“Manchester United would be ready to offer Ederson a net salary of €4.5 million per year. Arsenal has also enquired about him,” Moretto said.

“United has surpassed Atletico with its contract proposal. However, no club has yet reached an agreement with Atalanta. United is the club with the greatest financial room.”

A hard-tackling and physical midfielder in the mould of Casemiro, Ederson has featured 39 times for Atalanta across all competitions this season, finding the net twice, and may be the player tapped to replace his fellow Brazilian.
