Le Havre Earn Point at Lille to Move Closer to Ligue 1 Safety
| Lille held to a draw by Le Havre despite extending unbeaten run to 12 Games |
Hakon Haraldsson gave Lille the lead before Issa Soumare equalized as Le Havre frustrated the hosts at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The draw leaves Lille fourth, three points off Lyon, while Le Havre are seven points clear of the relegation play-off spot...
LOSC Lille made it 12 Ligue 1 matches without defeat with 7 wins and 5 draws, yet they’ll feel they missed an opportunity in the race for Champions League qualification after a 1-1 home draw against 14th-placed Le Havre at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
As expected, Lille controlled the opening period and created a string of chances that were shared among their forwards.
Felix Correia dragged his shot wide, and Ngal’ayel Mukau cut inside only to fire straight at Mory Diaw. Hakon Haraldsson came closest to breaking the deadlock when his long-range effort clipped the post.
Correia missed the target again from inside the area, and Haraldsson tested Diaw with a header that the Le Havre keeper tipped away with a sharp reaction save.
The Iceland midfielder made it count before the half-hour, latching onto Ayyoub Bouaddi’s through ball and slotting low into the far corner to put Lille ahead.
Against the run of play, Le Havre levelled with their first shot of the match. Fode Doucoure headed the ball to Issa Soumare, and when it came back to him, Soumare nodded it past a stranded Berke Ozer.
That goal meant 18 of Le Havre’s league games have been level at the break, the most in Ligue 1 this season, despite both teams carving out chances to go ahead before halftime.
Diaw kept out Correia’s near-post effort, and after Mbwana Samatta cut inside and curled toward the far corner, Ozer was there to tip it away.
Haraldsson tried to settle things early in the second half, but his deflected shot from just inside the box struck the woodwork. Lille kept pressing, and after Diaw fumbled a cross, he recovered quickly to deny Mukau from close range.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo was quieter than his teammates, but he nearly grabbed another winner to follow his strike against Paris FC. Loic Nego produced a well-timed block to stop his goalbound effort.
Lille kept searching for a winner late on but couldn’t break through, missing the chance to open a three-point gap over Olympique Lyonnais in fourth.
Le Havre extended their winless run to 10 games with 6 draws and 4 losses, though the point moves them seven clear of the relegation play-off spot and closer to safety.
