Elina Svitolina booked her place in the Rome final after defeating world No. 3 Iga Swiatek 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
The two-time former champion, who last won in Rome in 2018, will now face Coco Gauff for the title.
“After so many years I'm happy to be again in the final,” Svitolina said.
Swiatek hit 28 winners, eight more than Svitolina, but 50 unforced errors let her down. Svitolina stayed steadier and took control in the final set.

The 7th seed also had to dig deep earlier in the week, edging out second seed Elena Rybakina in a tough quarter-final to reach the final.
