Ibrahima Konate Set to Leave Liverpool for free

Ibrahima Konate is unlikely to extend at Liverpool after 5 years at Anfield. The French centre-back favours LaLiga for 2026/27 but is also considering PSG and Premier League offers.

Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool future is in doubt as talks stall. The defender’s deal expires June 30, 2026 and he reportedly prefers a move to LaLiga but PSG and Premier League clubs remain options...

Ibrahima Konate was expected to sign a new deal at Liverpool, but that looks unlikely now. The French centre-back will be free to join any club for the 2026/27 season.

Seen as one of the top defenders in the world, Konate has drawn interest for months. His future at Anfield still looked set though, after joining the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2021.

But according to multiple reports in the UK media, talks between Liverpool and their defensive key man have stalled and broken down.

Konate sets sights on LaLiga move

This is confirmed. Liverpool and Konate could not agree terms on a new contract, and his current deal runs until June 30, 2026. That leaves him free to sign with any club for the 2026/27 season.

He’s still playing at the top level in Europe and now has five years of Premier League experience. So Konate will have plenty of suitors.

From what we understand, LaLiga is his preferred choice. He’s not ruling out staying in the Premier League where he’s highly rated, or a return to his hometown club PSG either.
