Game Recap & Key Moments
Following an early Utah Mammoth power play and 15 minutes of play in the opening period, Vegas struck first. Brett Howden opened the scoring for the Golden Knights, netting his fourth goal of the series in three straight games.
Mitch Marner and Mark Stone picked up the assists on the play, marking their 5th and 3rd points of the postseason respectively. The assist was Stone’s 39th career playoff point with Vegas, tying him with Jonathan Marchessault for third in franchise history. Only Reilly Smith and Shea Theodore, both still on the roster, sit ahead of him with 51.

A goal from Howden in the next game would put him level with Marchessault and Alex Tuch for Vegas’ longest playoff scoring streak at four games. The tally was also his third on the road this postseason, trailing only Marchessault’s five for the most by a Knight in a single playoff series.
Utah couldn’t convert on their only man advantage in the second period, and Vegas made them pay as Mitch Marner broke through for his first goal of the playoffs to make it 2-0.

Marner became the fifth player in Golden Knights history to hit at least six points in their first six playoff games with the team, joining Max Pacioretty, Paul Stastny, Mark Stone, and Reilly Smith.
With 12:18 left, Utah finally gave the home crowd something to cheer about. Kailer Yamamoto scored his fourth career playoff goal and first of the series to pull the Mammoth within one at 2-1. Mikhail Sergachev and MacKenzie Weegar picked up the assists, their fifth and third of the postseason respectively.
That goal ended an 8.5-minute stretch without a shot on target for Utah. The Mammoth finished with 20 shots on goal, reaching that mark just 59 seconds after Yamamoto’s strike.

Just as Utah looked to build momentum, Vegas silenced the crowd two minutes later. Colton Sissons made it 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining, netting his second goal of the series off assists from Brayden McNabb and Kaedan Korczak.
Vegas’ dominance late in games showed up again. Their +37 goal differential in third periods during the regular season was the best in the NHL, and it led all teams in any single period across the entire season.

Vegas put the game away for good just over two minutes later, sealing Utah’s elimination. On a Logan Cooley high-sticking penalty, Mitch Marner scored his second of the night to make it 4-1 with under eight minutes left.
Shea Theodore took over first place on the Golden Knights’ all-time playoff assists list with No. 52, passing Reilly Smith’s 51. Jack Eichel added his eighth assist of the postseason, the second most among players still active in the playoffs.
Cole Smith capped the scoring with an unassisted empty-netter for his second goal of the series, making it 5-1 at the final buzzer.
