Pavel Dorofeyev’s overtime winner gave the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 series lead over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night, putting them one win from the Western Conference final.
With the series level at 2-2 coming in, Game 5 carried major stakes. The winner would have a chance to close it out in two nights.
Anaheim struck first on the power play in the opening period, with Beckett Sennecke burying a close-range finish.
Sennecke extended his scoring streak to four games with the opening goal.

Vegas responded quickly, leveling on the power play themselves. Pavel Dorofeyev stripped the puck, skated in alone, and beat Lukas Dostal to make it 1-1.

The second period stayed scoreless, but Anaheim controlled play and outshot Vegas 17-6. Even with the pressure, the Ducks couldn’t find a goal to go ahead.
The Golden Knights made the most of limited chances and took the lead under five minutes into the third. Tomas Hertl poked home a loose puck in front of the net to give Vegas their first advantage of the night.

Anaheim responded with late pressure and tied it with 3:03 left in regulation. Olen Zellweger took a pass from Cutler Gauthier, stayed composed, and beat Carter Hart to make it 2-2.
Neither side could break through before the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.

Vegas clinched it 4:10 into the extra period when Dorofeyev buried the rebound off Jack Eichel’s shot for his second of the night, securing the win.
Game 6 of the second-round series is set for Thursday in Anaheim.
